OAT1 Transporter Assay (SLC22A6)

The OAT1 transporter is an organic anion uptake transporter that is encoded by the SLC22A6 gene. OAT1 is expressed in the kidney on the basal-lateral membrane of proximal tubule epithelial cells. Because it serves to take substrates from the blood stream into the kidney, OAT1 can mediate the renal elimination of these compounds.
